Player Equipment Policy

Players must refrain from altering their uniforms in any way that poses a danger to themselves, or other players. Shin-guards must be worn completely under the sock, not with the top of the sock flipped over.

Shoes must be appropriate for the game of soccer. Toe cleats are also strictly prohibited. Of the following photos, only the soccer cleat is allowed.

Hair control devices must not be hard, such as a clip, pin, or bead. Hats of any kind are not permitted. Additional equipment designed to protect the individual is acceptable as long as it poses no danger. Additional clothing such as leg extensions should match the overall uniform color scheme as best as possible. The referee must inspect and approve of any additional equipment.

FIFA and US Soccer give very clear guidance on jewelry: All items of jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands etc.) are strictly forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewelry is not acceptable.  Additionally, mouth guards are required for any players who have braces.

Casts

In order for a player with a hard cast to be allowed to participate in practice or a game, the player must have the approval of their treating medical practitioner, their parents, their coach, the League Coordinator and the Club Director, or their designee, as well as the opposing team’s coach for games.

In advance of participating in practice or a game, the player must inform their coach about their injury and cast and provide written medical clearance from their treating medical practitioner.  The coach must then inform their League Coordinator and/or Club Director about the situation and the player’s request to continue playing.   The League Coordinator and Club Director, or their designee, must advise on the approved protective covering - for both practices and games, the cast must be wrapped in bubble wrap or a commercially available cover designed for sports activities -  as well as evaluate and approve the wrapped cast.  The League Coordinator and Club Director may delegate inspection of the wrapped cast to on-site coaches for practice and games.  A player will not be permitted to participate in practice or games without prior approval.

For games, the player must also obtain approval from the opposing team’s coach prior to participating.  The player's coach must then positively affirm to the Referee that all approvals have been obtained (the player's treating medical practitioner, their parents, their coach and the opposing team’s coach, the League Coordinator and the Club Director, or their designee) and that the player may participate. However, even if the player is approved to participate, the Referee may cease participation at any time if he observes the player is acting in a reckless manner, is unable to adequately protect themselves, or is otherwise jeopardizing their own or another's safety.
